FLIGHTDECK BY SUNIMOD · PRODUCT PRIVACY
How FlightDeck handles pilot records, backups, weather requests and purchases.
This notice describes the current FlightDeck development build for iPhone and Android. FlightDeck is in development and is not publicly released. See Sunimod’s site-wide privacy policy for website and company practices.
Your pilot workspace stays on your device
FlightDeck stores your pilot profile, flight logbook, qualification records, aircraft, trip notes, checklists, attached documents and revision history locally. FlightDeck does not upload these records to Sunimod. There is no FlightDeck user account or Sunimod record-storage server.
Record contents, revision-history contents and imported document files are encrypted locally using an operating-system-held key. Internal identifiers, record categories, revision numbers and audit action names/timestamps remain as local database metadata; FlightDeck does not claim every byte in its database file is encrypted. If the device key becomes unavailable, the app cannot open the existing encrypted workspace and will not replace the key and overwrite your records.
Exports and backups
You can make PDF or CSV logbook exports, share an imported document, or export a password-protected backup. You choose the destination. Readable exports can be opened by the recipient, app or file provider you select, which controls its own copies and retention.
An encrypted backup contains records, revision history and retained document files. Its password is not sent to Sunimod or stored inside the backup. Sunimod cannot recover a forgotten backup password or lost device key. Current limits are 25 MB per imported document, 120 MB of document content in a backup, and 250 MB for the complete encoded backup.
FlightDeck excludes its private workspace from automatic platform backup. Android backup and app-data transfer are disabled. On iPhone, workspace backup exclusion and protection are set before it opens. Keep a separate FlightDeck backup somewhere you control. These exclusions do not prevent a photo library or file/share provider from backing up copies you choose to send it.
Temporary readable sharing copies are removed at the next share or when you erase app data. Copies already received or saved outside FlightDeck are outside its control.
Connections to other services
| Action | Information and provider |
|---|---|
| Request weather | The U.S. Aviation Weather Center receives the station identifiers you request and ordinary network information such as your IP address. FlightDeck does not send your logbook, medical records or attachments with the request. |
| Purchase or restore Pro | Apple or Google handles the native store transaction, account and entitlement check. FlightDeck does not receive payment-card details or send purchase tokens to a Sunimod billing server. |
| Open a regulation or support link | Your browser opens the site you selected, which applies its own privacy practices. |
| Export or share | The operating-system destination you choose receives the copy. |
The current app includes no advertising or analytics SDK. Platform diagnostics and operating-system services may have separate behavior.
Photos, files and reminders
Camera and selected-file access are used when you choose to add an image or document. Only selected content is imported into the local vault. Notification permission is optional; qualification reminders are scheduled on your device and do not use a Sunimod push-notification server. Declining permission does not delete records.
Deleting records and clearing the workspace
Deleting a record removes it from the active list but preserves encrypted revision history. Supporting vault files remain available to that history and may be included in a later encrypted backup. Deleting an active item is different from clearing the workspace.
The erase-data action clears local records, revision history and vault files. It cannot remove copies you previously exported or change another device’s records. Device storage and operating systems can retain remnants; ordinary deletion is not a guarantee of forensic secure erasure.
If Pro ends or the store cannot verify it, existing records remain readable, editable and exportable. They are not automatically deleted or truncated to match Free edition limits.
Subscription access
The planned Pro subscription is US$6.99 per month through the device’s app store. The store displays the actual local price and terms. Purchases are not offered from this development page. Restore through the same store account; a subscription does not automatically transfer between iPhone and Android. Google Play may need an internet connection to verify Pro. Free functions and access to existing records remain available when paid access cannot be verified.
Questions about FlightDeck
If you deliberately include information in a support request, Sunimod receives what you send. Avoid sending medical documents, certificate details or logbook information unless necessary and you choose to share them.
