Availability: True Link for Mac and Android is in private preview. Public downloads are not available yet. See current availability for platform and access information.

What does True Link do?

True Link connects your Mac to a paired phone’s mobile-data connection. Start sharing on your phone, connect from your Mac, and keep connection status, traffic and usage history in view.

How do I connect over Wi-Fi or a hotspot?

Put the Mac and phone on a reachable local network, start sharing on the phone, and open its pairing screen. On the Mac, choose the phone-pairing option, select the phone, and enter its current eight-digit code. A code lasts five minutes and permits five attempts. Closing the pairing screen invalidates an unused code. A saved pairing can reconnect without another code until it is forgotten or revoked.

On the Mac, choose Pair Android phone. If your phone is not listed, use Phone not listed?, enter the local address displayed on the phone, and choose Find. Check local-network permissions and make sure the network allows your devices to reach one another.

Can I use a USB cable?

Android can connect by USB. This option requires Android’s USB debugging setting and permission for your Mac to connect. Authorize only a Mac you trust. You can also pair over a reachable local Wi-Fi network or hotspot.

When can I use True Link on iPhone?

iPhone access is not available yet. See current availability for updates on iPhone support and access options.

Does it work without a physical SIM card?

You need an active mobile-data service on your phone. A supported physical SIM or eSIM can provide that connection.

What does “Internet verified” mean?

True Link recently reached an internet service through your active connection. The status shows when that check succeeded. Individual websites can still have problems, and a successful check does not determine how your carrier counts data. The privacy notice explains the services used for these checks.

Why can the phone say cellular is available while internet verification fails?

A phone can have a mobile signal without a working internet connection. Check that mobile data works on the phone, sharing is running, and the Mac is connected to the correct phone. Reconnect after changing networks. If you use a personal Gateway, also check that server and its saved profile.

What does the connection-quality test measure?

It shows how responsive the Mac-to-phone connection is. The optional internet check measures replies from an outside service. Network filtering and the service itself can affect those results, so use them alongside your experience in other apps. This check measures connection responsiveness, not download speed.

Why do traffic totals differ from my carrier’s bill?

True Link measures the traffic it handles. Your carrier may also count connection overhead and other phone activity, and each device can show a different session or time period. Use your carrier’s figures for billing. Monthly totals, all-time totals and chart history are separate; resetting the month leaves the other measurements intact.

Is True Link a VPN or an anonymity service?

The local phone connection is encrypted, but Direct mode sends traffic onward from the phone to each destination. HTTPS and other application encryption still matter. Carriers and network operators can observe connection metadata and traffic volume. True Link does not guarantee anonymity, undetectable tethering, a particular carrier classification, or a particular data allowance.

The Mac can optionally use an imported WireGuard/OpenVPN configuration or the supported NordVPN profile workflow. These are separate provider connections that require appropriate configurations or credentials and have their own privacy terms.

What is personal Gateway mode?

Personal Gateway is an advanced option for connecting through a compatible server you manage. Sunimod does not provide a hosted Gateway service. You are responsible for your server and hosting. If its connection fails, sharing stops instead of switching to Direct mode. Keep the imported Gateway profile private because it contains access credentials.

Can I use private or workplace DNS?

True Link uses Cloudflare’s encrypted DNS service for ordinary DNS requests. Private workplace or router-only names may not resolve as they do on your usual network, and a workplace VPN may need its own setup. Apps that already use their own encrypted DNS keep using that service. True Link does not fall back to unencrypted DNS.

Can I disconnect a previously paired Mac?

Use the phone’s paired-Mac controls to forget that Mac or all paired Macs. This revokes forwarding access. Use the Mac’s Forget control as well if you want its saved phone entry removed. A Mac that needs access again must complete a new pairing.

How do I remove saved profiles, logs, or the Mac helper?

Stop sharing before removing the phone’s Gateway profile. Delete an optional Mac VPN profile to remove its app-managed configuration and saved credentials. The phone settings include a clear-log action; operating-system logs and copies already sent elsewhere are separate.

Use Prepare to remove True Link on the Mac before moving the app to Trash. It restores regular internet access and removes the network helper, while deliberately keeping pairings and traffic history. It is not an erase-all-data operation. Contact support if you also want help finding retained app data.

How do I get help?

Email admin@sunimod.com or use the contact page. Include your Mac and phone models, app and operating-system versions, connection type, the error message and the steps that led to it.

Review diagnostic logs before sharing them; they can contain device names and connection details. Never send a pairing code, Gateway profile, VPN password, or private key. For information about app data, see the True Link app privacy notice and the website privacy policy.
