FieldDesk
FieldDesk privacy policy
Updated October 24, 2026 · FieldDesk 0.4 for Android and iPhone/iPad
Your field records stay under your control. FieldDesk stores jobs on your device and works without a FieldDesk account, subscription or Sunimod server. You decide when to export, import or share files.
Who provides FieldDesk
FieldDesk is provided by Sunimod LLC. For app support, privacy questions, or a request about information you have sent to us, email admin@sunimod.com. Please identify FieldDesk in your message.
Information used on your device
FieldDesk uses the information you enter to create job records and reports. This can include customer and site details, job references, technician names, notes, findings, checklist results, business contact details, a logo, report preferences and custom checklist templates. It also stores the photos you capture or import, photo names and captions, device timestamps, original-file hashes, before/during/after labels and annotation strokes.
The app does not ask for contacts or device-location access and does not establish a trusted capture time or location. Site details are entered by you. Photos can retain metadata already embedded in the selected image, including location tags. Review what you share.
No app account, tracking or hosted records
FieldDesk has no Sunimod login, advertising or app analytics service. It does not automatically upload your jobs, photos, templates or backups to Sunimod. The application, fonts, report tools and help are included in the installed package. There is no FieldDesk bridge server, relay, cloud database, remote license service or automatic cloud synchronization.
Apple, Google and your device provider separately process information for store purchases, downloads, updates, security and diagnostics according to their services and your settings. FieldDesk is a paid download with its current features included; it has no separate in-app purchase process. We do not receive your payment-card details from the app. A purchase on one store does not create a purchase on the other store.
Camera and selected files
The app uses the camera only when you request a capture. You can manage permissions in system settings. If you decline camera access, you can still use other supported features, including importing a photo through the file picker. FieldDesk does not deliberately save a captured photo to your gallery as part of this workflow, although the operating system or camera software can process the returned image.
“Original” means the exact image bytes accepted by FieldDesk at capture or import. It does not mean raw sensor data or a guarantee that a camera application has not rotated, resized or re-encoded the image. Annotations are stored separately. Reports can contain resized or annotated copies while editable archives preserve the accepted originals.
When you select a file or open one into FieldDesk, the app copies the selected bytes into local staging for review and validation. It does not browse your entire storage. An incoming file is reviewed before it is imported. The original file at the source remains separate.
Storage, recovery and deletion
Saved records and original photos are kept in app-owned storage. Local storage relies on the operating system, device encryption, app isolation and your device lock. It is not separately encrypted by a FieldDesk vault password.
To reduce loss from interrupted writes, FieldDesk keeps recoverable metadata generations and staged camera/import files. An older recovery generation may contain an earlier saved version. Originals can remain while a recovery copy still references them, and temporary files can remain until a later cleanup. Deletion is not guaranteed secure erasure of storage media.
You can delete jobs in the app. Clearing app data or deleting the app can remove its local records. On iPhone, offloading an app may retain its data; use the operating system’s appropriate deletion controls. There is no FieldDesk account to delete, and Sunimod cannot remotely erase records stored only on your device. Export and verify an editable backup before clearing data or changing devices.
Deleting local records does not remove files you already exported, copies held by recipients, existing device backups or store purchase records. Manage those copies through the device or service that holds them.
Reset camera recovery in Storage & help requires confirmation and permanently removes pending unsaved captures and their recovery records from app-private staging. Save or export any recovered photo you want to keep first. This reset does not remove saved jobs/photos, the business profile, templates, incoming-file staging or external originals.
Backups and passwords
You can export a single editable job or a whole-workspace backup containing saved jobs, their originals, the business profile and custom checklist templates, within the app’s size limits. Workspace backups exclude unsaved drafts, pending camera or incoming files, and generated reports; reports can be regenerated from saved jobs. Backups do not contain store ownership, device permissions or other apps’ credentials.
Ordinary archives and separate business-profile exports are readable files. Optional password protection encrypts an archive on your device before you share it. It protects that exported file, not the live job database. FieldDesk does not store a recovery password, and Sunimod cannot recover an encrypted archive when you lose its password. Keep the password separately from the backup.
A PDF or CSV is a report, not a complete editable backup. File hashes detect changes relative to a manifest; they do not certify a photographer’s identity, the truth of an image, or a trusted time. Confirm that a backup was saved at the destination and test restoration before relying on it.
Sharing and other providers
Exports use the operating system’s file and share interfaces. You choose whether to save locally, send a file to another app, or use an email or storage provider. A chosen file provider may also download a file you select for import. The receiving app or provider can upload, retain or forward the file according to its own policies. FieldDesk does not select a recipient or operate that provider’s service.
Sharing a file or importing it creates a separate copy. It does not establish automatic synchronization. Returning from a system share sheet does not prove that a file was delivered or safely backed up.
Operating-system backups
The Android app disables standard application backup and declares cloud/device-transfer exclusions. Manufacturer, administrator and migration-tool behavior can vary. The iOS app does not exclude all local job data from system backups; iCloud or computer backups may include it according to your device settings. The iOS incoming-file staging folder is excluded from backups. These platform backups are separate from FieldDesk’s explicit export tools and are controlled through the relevant provider.
Support messages and external links
The optional diagnostic export contains app/platform information, storage counts and feature availability. It does not include job names, notes, original photo contents, business contact details or archive passwords. It is not uploaded automatically. Review any file before sharing it with support.
If you email Sunimod, we receive your email address, the message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond and provide support. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, or customer records that are unnecessary to explain the issue. Support correspondence is retained as reasonably needed to respond, provide services, meet legal obligations and resolve disputes, as described in the Sunimod privacy policy. You can use the contact above to request access, correction or deletion of information you provided to us; some records may need to be retained for legal or legitimate business reasons.
Opening an external policy/help link uses the chosen browser. The destination receives ordinary information needed to serve the page, such as an IP address and browser details. Website and provider records are separate from the app’s local records. We do not sell your personal information.
Changes and questions
Changes to FieldDesk’s data handling will be reflected in this policy and the in-app information. App updates are distributed through the stores. Contact admin@sunimod.com if you have a question about this policy.
