FieldDesk help & support

Updated October 24, 2026 · Android, iPhone and iPad

Availability: FieldDesk is coming to Android, iPhone and iPad. Public store downloads are not available yet. See current availability for access information.

Need help? Email admin@sunimod.com with “FieldDesk” in the subject. Include your app version, Android/iOS version, what you expected, and what happened. Avoid sending passwords or unnecessary customer information.

Do I need an account, subscription or computer?

No. Jobs, photos, custom checklists and reports work on your device, without a FieldDesk account or computer. FieldDesk is planned as a one-time paid download with its current features included and no subscription.

App installation, purchase and updates use the App Store or Google Play. If you choose a cloud file provider or email app when sharing, that separate service may require its own account or internet connection.

How do I make a complete job record?

  1. Enter your business details, logo and report color in the business profile.
  2. Create a job using a built-in or custom checklist.
  3. Add findings with notes, priority and status. Capture or import photos and label them as before, during or after.
  4. Add captions or annotations, complete the checklist, and mark resolved findings.
  5. Export a branded PDF for the customer. Save an editable project or workspace backup for your records.

How do I move work between devices?

Export an editable job or workspace backup. Use the system share sheet or file tools to save or move that file by an available method, then open it in FieldDesk on the receiving Android or iOS device. You can also start an import from inside FieldDesk and choose the saved file.

Review the file in FieldDesk before importing. An imported job becomes a separate copy and does not automatically merge with existing work. Choose which copy you will keep editing.

The Apple and Google purchases are separate. A backup moves your work, not store ownership. A Mac or Windows computer can read the PDF/CSV and keep backup files using ordinary software; editable FieldDesk jobs are used in the mobile app.

What should I back up?

An editable project backup includes one saved job and its original photos. A whole-workspace backup includes all saved jobs, your business profile and custom templates, within limits of 500 jobs and 64 MiB of file and expanded content. If the workspace exceeds those limits, save individual project backups. Unsaved drafts, pending camera or incoming files, and generated reports are excluded; reports can be regenerated from saved jobs. A PDF or CSV contains report information but is not a complete editable backup.

Current project files use .fielddesk or password-protected .fielddeskx. Whole-workspace backups use .fielddeskbackup or password-protected .fielddeskbackupx. Select these files from within the app if your device does not offer FieldDesk when opening them.

Save important backups outside the app’s own storage and verify that you can select and import them. Returning from the share sheet does not confirm that a receiving app saved the file. Export before changing devices, uninstalling the app or clearing its data.

Can I protect a backup with a password?

Yes. Choose the encrypted archive option and a strong password. Keep that password separately from the file. Password protection applies to the exported archive; it does not lock the app’s live database. Sunimod does not hold a recovery password and cannot decrypt a backup if you forget it.

Why was an image or backup rejected?

FieldDesk accepts supported JPEG, PNG and WebP images within its size and image-dimension limits. Convert unsupported images, such as HEIC, to JPEG before importing. A backup can be rejected if it is incomplete, altered, from an unsupported format, too large, or protected by a different password. Keep the original file, confirm it finished copying, and try selecting it again. Do not rename an unrelated ZIP file and expect it to become a FieldDesk archive.

What if a save fails or the camera is interrupted?

Keep the app open and follow the retry or recovery options shown. Review any retained draft or conflicting changes before saving again. If a photo capture was interrupted, recovery review lets you attach the photo to a finding, export the original, leave it for later or discard it.

If damaged recovery files keep the camera from reopening, first review, attach or export every recovered photo you want to keep. Then open Storage & help, choose Reset camera recovery, and read the confirmation. Reset permanently discards pending, unsaved camera captures and their recovery records on this device. It leaves saved jobs, saved photos, templates, the business profile and external originals untouched.

If device storage is low, make space outside FieldDesk and retry. Avoid uninstalling or clearing app data as a first troubleshooting step; that can remove the work you are trying to recover.

Where are my files, and how do I delete them?

Saved jobs live in the app’s local storage. You can remove jobs through the app. Clearing app data or deleting the app removes app-owned information subject to the operating system’s behavior; offloading an iPhone app may retain data. Recovery copies, exported files, selected original files and existing OS/provider backups have separate retention. The privacy policy explains these distinctions.

How do purchases and updates work?

When you obtain FieldDesk through a store, use the same store account to manage installation and updates. There is no separate FieldDesk subscription or in-app upgrade to restore. For payment or refund questions, use the store’s purchase history or support options, or contact us with the store name and a description of the issue. Do not send payment-card details.

Install updates from the official App Store or Google Play listing. Keep an independent editable backup before a significant device or app change.

What can I send to support?

Start with your app version, device and operating-system version, a short description, and the steps that led to the issue. You can export and review a diagnostic summary before attaching it. It contains app and storage information, without customer job text, original photos, contacts or archive passwords. FieldDesk does not send it automatically.

Contact: admin@sunimod.com. If an issue involves sensitive records, describe it without sending those records first.
